Saturday August 22nd Lets take a look at who is still on Notre Dame's board for the 2010 recruiting Class QUARTERBACKS The Irish targeted some big names early but lost out on Jake Heaps (BYU), Blake Bell (Oklahoma), Devin Gardner (Michigan) and Connor Wood (Texas). They then turned to what many thought was a slam dunk in Irish Legacy Nick Montana. The younger Montana though surprised many by pledging to Washington. The Irish rebounded to land two talented midwest youngsters in Tommy Rees (IL) and Andrew Hendrix (OH) RUNNING BACKS The Irish may take two here one speedster and maybe one combo back PROSPECTS Jordon James- CA- (5-10, 190) The Irish seem to be right in the mix here. He will visit UCLA, WA, AZ. The biggest obstacle for the Irish will be distance. Chance of landing 50% Cameron Roberson- CA (6-1, 215)- Big combo back. Grandfather is an Irish Grad. Will also look at Arizona and Washington. Chance of landing 70% Marquis Flowers- AZ (6-3, 195)- Tall lanky back mostly being recruited by schools as DB. Irish like him at RB. Chance of landing 50% Giovanni Bernard -FL (5-10, 200) - Small stocky back from great HS program. Will come to USC game with several teammates. Right now seems enamored with staying in the south. Chance of landing 40% Michael Dyer AR (5-9, 200)- Nations top back. Still has Irish on radar and has talked about an official visit. Don;t get too excited mentions Auburn as his heavy leader. Chance of landing 10% WIDE RECEIVERS The Irish as always want to sign a handful of wideouts. Early verbal came in from home towner Danny Smith and Bennett Jackson of New Jersey. They have now missed on some big ones as Justin McCay has pledged to Oklahoma and Kyle Prater will announce soon for USC Tai-Ler Jones - GA (6-0, 185)- Why do we have someone on here who is committed to Stanford. Well Mr. Jones is still looking and has scheduled an official to ND and his father played for Lou Holtz at ND. Stanford has already had 6 kids de commit from them. Chance of landing 60% TIGHT ENDS A definite strength for the Irish despite the recent transfer of Joseph Fauria to UCLA. The Irish targeted C.J. Fiedorowicz (now pledged to Illinois) early but fell in love with Alex Welch and will take only him for now. OFFENSIVE LINE I feel this is the Irish biggest need. The Irish started off this class before signing day by landing standout Christian Lombard of Illinois. The Irish now have what I believe six prospects left on the board. Seantrel Henderson- MN (6-8, 300)- The consensus # 1 player in the nation regardless of position. It has been a roller coaster for the Irish in his recruitment as early were mentioned heavily only to fall out of a lot of talk, to now having an official visit line up for the USC game. He will also visit USC, FL, OK, OSU and MI. Who knows how this plays out. Irish need a lot of help from former HS teammate Michael Floyd. Chance of landing 30% Matt James -OH (6-8, 280)- massive tackle has visited South Bend numerous times. Still really looks torn between Irish, Cincinnati and a little bit of Ohio State. Chance of landing 50% Erik Kohler - CA (6-4, 270)- HS teammate of Nick Montana. Seemed destined to follow Montana to Washington before a late summer trek to ND. Will probably come down to those two. Chance of landing 50% Brandon Linder FL (6-6, 290)- tall versatile talent from same HS as Sam Young and Dan Wenger. Has played both LT and Center. May want to stay home with Gators. Chance of landing 50 % Arie Kouandijo MD (6-6 315)- Late on a lot of the national radar lists. Just paired down a huge list eliminating some schools such as Ohio State and Penn State that were thought to be favorites. Film was much more impressive than his current ranking. Chance of landing 40% James Stone TN (6-5, 300)- Came in for spring game. Already schedules for a ND official visit. Irish will face stern battle with home state Volunteers for Mr. Stone. Chance of landing 50 %. Monday August 17th The Irish seem to be in the Seantrel Henderson sweepstakes as the nations # 1 prep player has set an official visit to ND for the Oct 17th USC game. Henderson will also visit, Florida, USC, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Minnesota. Tuesday August 4th IRISH GET A PRINCE Notre Dame landed its 14th commitment in Charlotte (NC) Linebacker Prince Shembo. He picked the Irish over Tennessee and Virginia Tech |
