This week 9 matchup would be for the northwest crossroads conference
championship. Andrean is trying to secure it's first undefeated regular season since
1969, while Lowell is attempting to right the ship after a disappointing loss at Munster.
The game would be competitive early as both teams score early touchdowns. But
Andrean would soon take control and score 28 unanswered points, defeating the Red
Devils, 35-7.
This matchup is obviously one of the most heated rivalries in all of northwest Indiana.
And with Valparaiso head coach, Mark Hoffman, possibly coaching in his final meeting
between the two schools, makes it an even bigger event. Portage would jump on top
early, after a long touchdown pass on the opening play from scrimmage. But,
Valparaiso would soon take control thanks to Andrew Kittridge, and their vaunted
running attack. The Vikings would even their record at 4-4 and defeat the Portage
Indians, 42-28.
The Snider Panthers play their best game of the season against the #1 ranked team
in class 4A. The game would feature an abundance of points, but when the dust
settled, Cathedral would have the advantage, defeating Snider, 39-31.
With first place in the DAC on the line, Lake Central invades the new field of Troy, in
hopes of keeping it's undefeated season alive. After a first quarter surge by the
Trojans, the Blue Indians lock down Chesterton defensively. And in the 4th quarter,
Lake Central pulls away for good, defeating the Trojans, 38-7.
The Lowell Red Devils attempt to win their 4th consecutive game against the Hobart
Brickies, at the Brickyard. The game would be close the entire way. It was a spirited
effort by the home team, but it would not be enough as Lowell would escape in a nail
biter, 19-17.
The Crown Point Bulldogs travel to Portage to take on the Indians. Portage makes
numerous mistakes early in the game and the Dogs capitalize. Crown Point played like a
well oiled machine and would spoil the Portage homecoming, defeating the Indians, 42-0.
The Griffith Panthers travel to the Inferno to take on the Lowell Red Devils in NCC
action. Lowell uses 3 first half touchdowns to pull away and eventually hold off Griffith,
18-13.
