U. S. Steel Yard, the home ballpark of the Gary SouthShore RailCats, has been selected to host a four-team NCAA Regional from June 1-4 in the opening weekend of the
NCAA Men’s Baseball Tournament. Purdue University will serve as the host school and No. 1 seed. The No. 2 seed will be Kentucky, No. 3 is Kent State and No. 4 will be
nearby Valparaiso University. Purdue will face Valparaiso in the opening game of the tournament on Friday at 3 p.m.

The RailCats have signed right-handed pitcher Derek Drage, who will be the starting pitcher for game 2 of the opening homestand.

In addition, they announced the retirement of outfielder Jason James and signed outfielder Sean Smith. The club also sent right-handed pitcher Mike Perconte to Joliet
(Frontier League) in exchange for left-handed pitcher Chuck Lukanen and traded the rights to right-handed pitcher Derek Johnson to Las Cruces Vaqueros (Pecos
League) for Future Considerations..

The RailCats have announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Kyle Wilson.

Two RailCats offseason signees have been picked up by Major League organizations before they even had the chance to don a RailCats uniform. Veteran pitcher Bear
Bay was signed by the San Diego Padres and rookie catcher Dan Pellegrino signed with the Baltimore Orioles.

The RailCats released pitcher Carlos Rivas. Rivas was 5-1 with a 3.38 ERA in 13 games and 12 starts for Gary last season.

The RailCats have announced the signing of pitcher Stephen Hiscock, who was part of the Rays organization for the last two years.

They have also picked up the options on infielder Kyle Haines and pitchers Scott Kelley and Phillip Bartleski.

The RailCats will play an exhibition game against the Windy City Thunderbolts of the Frontier League on May 10th at Riverside Park in Hammond.

A veteran right-hander will join the RailCats bullpen as the club signed four-time minor league All-Star Andrew Johnston on Friday. Johnston was a part of the Rockies
organization for the past seven seasons and spent the past two at AAA.

The RailCats have added catcher Jordan Comadena and right-handed pitcher Mike Perconte to their roster.

The RailCats will host their annual Open Player Tryout at U. S. Steel Yard on Thursday, May 3. The tryout is free and registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. for position players
and 11:30 a.m. for pitchers.
